K-12 Grades & Irish schools

      Confused by all the K-12 Grade references on the Internet?
      Here's a quick guide:

      K = Kindergarten, age 4.

      K-6 is an elementary school (similar to our national school) catering for ages 4-12.

      Middle School then usually lasts for three years, Grades 7-9.

      Finally, High School consists of Grades 10-12.
      At 12th Grade, students are 17-18 years old - equivalent to Irish Leaving Certificate students.
