Technical Problems
- Lack of expertise/support
- identifying school’s needs
- configuring basic machines
- first line maintenance
- getting through to support
- configuring/maintaining networks
- inoperative systems
Other Problems
- time spent supporting other staff
- lack of partner schools for projects, esp. v/c
- lack of ideas for activities
- lack of multiple e-mail addresses
Conclusion
- Specific training and support made available
- Focus equally on knowledge, skills and attitudes
- Expertise must be shared by staff
- Aim to remove technology as an impediment to paedagogy
- Need for regular, achievable curricular activities.
Proposals
- Several training sessions of 2 day duration
- Minimum of two staff per school
- Based in participating schools
- Support visit to schools before and after training
Additional Supports
- Setting up a resource website addressing technical and curricular issues.
- Hoped that this might form a focus for a school network user group.
