Mailing Lists

Mailing lists are groups of people who communicate and discuss various topics and issues via e-mail. Anyone can send a message to the mailing list and this message is sent to everyone on the list. And anyone on the list can reply to this message, and their reply is sent to everyone on the list. In this way, it is very easy to discuss topics with hundreds of other people.

Also, It is possible to keep an archive of mailing lists, which can be accessed via the World-Wide-Web.

We currently only have one mailing list running in the Classroom of the Future. Please mail your suggestions for what mailing lists you think we should run, for pupils and teachers.

The mailing lists are handled by a program called Majordomo. To subscribe to a list, send mail to majordomo@classroom.broadcom.ie with the following body:

      subscribe <mailing-list>

Where <mailing-list> is the name of the list you want to subscribe to, i.e. chalktalk. To send a message to a mailing list, send it to: <mailing-list>@classroom.broadcom.ie
